10 miles of trails steeped in diversity at Belle Isle

The Northern Neck is lucky to have two fantastic state parks—Westmoreland in Westmoreland County and Belle Isle in Lancaster County. These are just two of the 38 parks that grace the Commonwealth from the mountainous Grayson Highlands State Park in the shadow of Virginia’s highest peak, Mt. Rogers, to the shores of the Atlantic at False Cape State Park, in the extreme southeast corner of the state.

Belle Isle is the closest state park to the southern Northern Neck, about 17 miles north of Kilmarnock along the Rappahannock River at 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. The park’s 892 acres includes seven miles of Rappahannock shoreline. Amenities abound with two…
