Irvington Crab Festival is successful

IRVINGTON—A sold-out crowd filled the big top on the Irvington Town Commons Saturday, August 10, for the eighth annual Irvington Crab Festival.

More then 35 bushels of steamed crabs were consumed, reported Steamboat Era Museum executive director Barbara Brecher. The crab festival is the largest annual fundraising event for the museum.

In addition to crabs, folks ate hot dogs and barbecue donated by the Tides Inn. Festival beer cups were provided by Chesapeake Bank and crab mallets by Virginia Commonwealth Bank, said Brecher.
