KILMARNOCK—Janet Maude Quinn Eichacker, 100, died July 23, 2020.
Mrs. Eichacker was born in New York, attended Sweet Briar College and was graduated from Barnard College in New York City.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah and her husband, Peter; a son, Peter and his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Rachel and her husband, Kevin; nine grandchildren, Eric; Eliza (Patrick), Jesse (Lisa), Hannah (Peter), Andrew, Nina (Johann), Carrie (Eric), Charles; Toby; seven great-grandchildren, Sophia, Finn, Liam, Dylan, Stella, Josephine and Leila; and a brother-in-law, Franklin Eichacker.
She was predeceased by a son, Eric Walter Eichacker; a daughter, Melissa Ann Eichacker Waterman; and by her husband of 72 years, Walter Clarence Eichacker.
Always a very devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Eichacker raised four children and assisted in managing the bookkeeping and other business of her husband’s busy medical practice. She was also active in the community and church all her life. She served for many years as the church historian at Setauket Presbyterian Church in New York and later as a vestry member and junior warden at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Heathsville. As a member of the Association of American University Women, she was instrumental in creating its first chapter in eastern Long Island, N.Y.
Plans for a memorial service are pending. Contributions in her honor may be made to Light of Christ Anglican Church in Heathsville; Holy Redeemer Anglican Church in Montross, or to a charity of choice.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
