Native trees free to good homes

The Friends of the Rappahannock, in partnership with the Town of Kilmarnock and Lancaster County, is conducting a free native tree giveaway.

Some 400 one- to three-gallon potted trees will be available for pick up from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. October 17 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, said Friends of the Rappahannock state policy coordinator Brent Hunsinger.

Trees strengthen the community by increasing property values, making public spaces more livable and improving the environment, said Hunsinger. This native tree giveaway is made possible by grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Arbor Day Foundation.
