Is your pup ready for the Fourth?
The Fourth of July celebrations can be traumatic for our canine companions. The loud, random booms of thunder, the flashes of lightning, and the smell of fireworks can frighten even the most chilled out pooch. Below are some tips to help minimize your fur-baby’s anxiety and keep them safe.
• Begin to desensitize your dog to the sounds of fireworks. It may sound silly, but if you associate loud noises with something good, your dog will be less anxious.
Find a fireworks video online and begin playing it at a low volume while feeding your pup his favorite treat. Slowly increase the volume and keep those treats coming. Take it slow, and lower the volume if you see your dog becoming anxious. Signs to look for are….
