Candidate filing deadline is Aug. 13 for special elections

LANCASTER—The deadline for declaring candidacy in the November 2 special elections in Irvington and White Stone is fast approaching.

According to Lancaster voter registrar Susan Jett, candidates have until 5 p.m. Friday, August 13, to file the necessary paperwork to run for the vacancies.

In Irvington, the mayor’s post was vacated by Albert “Tripp” Bugg and council member Frances Westbrook vacated her seat when she was sworn in as interim mayor in June. Council appointed planning commission member J. Chris Braly to fill Westbrook’s seat through the special election. The terms of both seats end….
