LANCASTER—In yet another COVID-19 related delay, the trial of Matthew Scott Chapman of White Stone has been delayed until November 15 because the number of positive cases increased at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center, where Chapman is being held while awaiting trial.

According to Lancaster County Clerk of Circuit Court Diane Mumford, Chapman cannot be transferred if exposed to the virus. The trial had been set to begin Monday, September 13.

The trial, which is set to take place in Lancaster County Circuit Court, is now expected to last through November 19.

Chapman is charged with first-degree murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, first offense; and shooting in the commission of a felony, all stemming from the March 2020 shooting death of John Carter Gordon of White Stone.
