Notorious history of criminal behavior leads to seven-year prison sentence for Beane

LANCASTER—Citing a long history of failing to abide by court imposed conditions and “shocking” behavior caught on monitored video jail calls, Lancaster County Circuit Court Judge R. Michael McKenney on August 19 sentenced Keith Lionel Beane Jr. of Merry Point to an active sentence of seven years for three felonies for failing to appear. “You make the case against yourself,” Judge McKenney told Beane as he passed sentence.

Asking Judge McKenney for a stiffer sentence than the 7-25 months suggested in the sentencing guidelines, Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony Spencer said, “The law is clear: not to sentence the offense but the offender.” He focused on Beane’s “10-and-a-half months of guns, drugs and running from police,” between his release from prison in August 2020 and his arrest in Mississippi in June 2021.
