Classical banjo player to perform on Oct. 29

The Rappahannock Concert Association on October 29 will welcome John Bullard & Friends to the Northumberland County Schools’ Performing Arts Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Claraville. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

In the 1970s, when Bullard was a middle-schooler, riding in the truck with his father, he first heard “Dueling Banjos,” a piece made famous by the movie Deliverance, and it sparked in Bullard an immediate, profound and lifelong devotion to the banjo, reported publicity chairman Nellie Landrum.

Since then, as a classically trained musician and the first graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music to earn a degree in performance with the banjo, Bullard has established a critically praised performing and recording career dedicated to….
