The Lancaster High School robotics team, LHS Kinetic Storm, competes annually in the FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC) competition.
The competition requires the team’s robot to accomplish certain tasks during both an autonomous period, where the robot functions independently according to its programming, and a driver controlled period, when a student manually operates the robot using a game controller.
“The tasks the robot has to complete during the time period change every year based on the challenges issued,” said coach Shelia Chewning.
“For each match, our team is randomly paired with another team to form a temporary alliance, competing against two other teams to earn as many points as possible….
