FREDERICKSBURG—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close Balls Neck Road at the bridge over Mill Creek in Northumberland County for a bridge maintenance project.
Starting Thursday, January 5, Balls Neck Road will close to traffic between Waddeys Road and Crosshills Road for approximately three months while work is underway, reported senior communications specialist Darragh Frye.
The bridge is one of multiple bridges scheduled to be repaired in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula to address bridge scour. Scour is the erosion of soil around a bridge’s foundation.
