Dr. Norris to address Interracial Conversations

Interracial Conversations of the Northern Neck will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. March 21 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 6749 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Wicomico Church.

James E.C. Norris, M.D. will present “Looking back and looking ahead: Reflections of Dr. Jim Norris, 90-year-old son of the Northern Neck’s first Black physician.” Dr. Norris will speak about his roots in Lancaster County, trends in contemporary American life that concern him, and some of the positive changes that have occurred on the Northern Neck over his lifetime.

Ample time will be given following Dr. Norris’ comments for questions and discussion. All are welcome at this presentation.

A retired surgeon, Dr. Norris, 90, is the son of Morgan E. Norris Sr., M.D., the first Black physician in the Northern Neck. Dr. Morgan Norris lived from 1883-1966 and began practicing in Lancaster County in 1917.
