When disaster strikes, there’s nothing like a helping hand to ease the trauma.
Six congregation members of Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville recently outstretched their helping hands to assist families in Ft. Myers, Fla., who lost their homes and belongings to Hurricane Ian.
It was almost a year ago when Hurricane Ian slammed into Florida causing death and destruction along its path. The Category 5 hurricane was responsible for more than 150 deaths and more than $112 billion in damage, making it the costliest hurricane in Florida’s history and the third costliest in U.S. history.
The World Meteorological Organization retired Ian on the hurricane name list because of the death and destruction Hurricane Ian caused in 2022.
