IRVINGTON—Elizabeth King Lewis, 88, formerly of Fredericksburg, passed away on September 28, 2023, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington.
Better known as “Betty Fay,” she was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall B. and Mary T. King; and her husband of 63 years, Charles Taylor (CT) Lewis.
Betty Fay is survived by her sons, Marshall T. Lewis and C. Taylor Lewis Jr. (Ann Marie).
Betty Fay graduated from Mary Washington College and pursued a teaching career in Stafford County, where she demanded the very best of her students, many of whom admit that they are better for it today.
She was an avid tennis player and after retirement, she took up the game of golf, but her true-life passion was playing duplicate bridge. She earned the ranking as a Ruby Life Master of the ACBL, and was a treasured member of the Northern Neck Duplicate Bridge Club.
Betty Fay may be best remembered by her friends, several of whom most recently recalled her as, “a feisty, true Virginia lady,” and “she never lost sight of her Southern roots.”
The family requests that those wishing to remember Betty Fay do so with a contribution to a charity or organization of their choice.
