REEDVILLE—June Tate Christie, 94, of Reedville passed away on October 19, 2023. She was born on April 1, 1929, in Richmond, a town she loved and always enjoyed visiting once she moved to the Northern Neck. During the later part of life she was a beloved member of the Reedville community.
June will be dearly missed by her children, Robert L. Figg III (Terry), William Cary Figg and Martha Cole Figg Williams (Dennis); as well as her stepchildren, John S. Christie III (Jocelyn) and Sherryl Christie. June was especially proud of her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Christie Jr.; and her sons, John Stuart Figg and Thomas Allen Figg; as well as her granddaughter, Kristen Nicole Figg.
In her free time, June enjoyed her dogs, who were her extended family, gardening and cooking. She was a dedicated member of her church and found solace and community in her faith.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Wicomico Parish Episcopal Church. Details of the service can be obtained from Currie Funeral Home. Interment will be at the family cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Welfare League or American Heart Association in her memory.
June will be remembered for her devotion to family, her faith, and the affection she had for her “puppies.” She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.
