Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 269 James Wharf Road, White Stone, recently announced the call of the 16th pastor in its storied 130-year history, the Rev. Gernard E. Reed.
Rev. Reed is a native of Westmoreland County and a son of the Clarksville Baptist Church in Warsaw, where the Rev. Michael R. Reed Sr. is the pastor.
Rev. G. Reed is past pastor of the Second Baptist and Mulberry Baptist Churches of Richmond County, and is the current Moderator of the Northern Neck Baptist Association Inc.
He indicated he looks forward to meeting the citizens of White Stone and greater Lancaster communities. A formal installation is planned for April 2024.
