Native Plant Society to offer gardening program on Feb. 15

The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society (NNVNPS) will present a Zoom program by biologist Maeve Coker of Dunnsville at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 15. Her topic is “Gardening for Wildlife: A Photographic Journey of my Essex County Habitat.”

Maeve and her husband, Joey Coker, are both biologists and after moving into their 12-acre property about six years ago, they have been planting native plants while encouraging the natural vegetation to flourish, reported past president Kevin Howe. A few years ago, she began photographing all the wildlife on their property. 

After wearing out one camera, she continues with a new camera capturing photos. This journey has resulted in a number of rare and unusual creatures on her homesite….
