LANCASTER—Avalon Stevens Pittman, 96, of Lancaster was born on October 30, 1921, in Ottoman. She passed into the arms of her Savior on August 2, 2018.
Avalon was the widow of W.R. Pittman Jr., and is survived by her son, Edward R. Pittman and his wife, Joyce, of Lancaster. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Travis R. Pittman and his wife, Susan, of Kilmarnock, Tad E. Pittman of White Stone and Nell Marie Foulke and her husband, Greg, of Dublin, Ohio; and her five great grandchildren, Eli, Trevor and McKenzie Pittman, and August and Ocran Foulke; and her sister, Marion S. Ransone
She was a graduate of Lively High School and the nursing program at Sheltering Arms Hospital. A lifelong member of Corrottoman Baptist Church, she was active in the WMU until health issues prevented her from participating. Avalon loved to garden, crochet and sew.
A celebration of life service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Currie Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service was held after the service.
