Because You Are Polite

When we experience the death of a loved one, or anyone who was an important part of our life, we are left with a sense of loss and we want to let those closest to the deceased know that.   

If we are not immediate family, but close, and think that a brief phone call would be welcomed, we should follow that instinct. Often, though, our desire is to reach out and comfort the family by letting them know, in writing, of our shared sadness. However, that is not always easy. We may find it awkward at such a personal time to say what we think is the right thing.  My advice is to just write!
