Caring Hands Lifeline support group will meet at Grace Church

Starting this fall, area churches are offering a support group for individuals caring for family members with dementia. A new group is now organizing at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock. The first meeting will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 24.

Although caregivers support their family member in love, often feelings of being overwhelmed and isolated occur. Over time, it is not unusual for a caregiver to develop such feelings of guilt, worry, exhaustion, irritability and sadness, reported retired clinical psychologist Renée May.

A support group is a place where individuals can discuss their personal fears, concerns, and needs in a confidential and supportive setting….
