Donna Grimes and Duane Russell of Donna’s on Main spent the recent Thanksgiving with other volunteers cooking, delivering and serving complete holiday dinners out of their restaurant’s kitchen to those who may not have otherwise had one.
“We are very blessed and fortunate and we just wanted to share that,” said Russell.
Grimes, Russell, several employees of the restaurant and members of the Kilmarnock Masonic Lodge, served those in need of a meal as well as some who were alone or empty nesters and simply didn’t want the hassle of preparing, cooking and cleaning up for an entire Thanksgiving meal.
“We didn’t turn anyone away who came to the door,” said Grimes.
Leading up to the holiday, they had asked law enforcement, churches and community members to let them know of anyone who may be in need of a nice, hot holiday dinner….
