Sisters Willa and Corinne DuBois, granddaughters of club member Julia Putney-Brandt, enjoyed the festivities.

The Yankee Point Yacht Club (YPYC) gathered to celebrate the Fourth of July with their annual flag raising ceremony followed by a hot dog and potluck buffet.

During the meal, members and guests enjoyed a Founding Fathers trivia game led by past commodore John Henley to highlight the meaning of Independence Day, reported YPYC member Bill Hornbeck.

The club, founded in 1976, is on the Corrotoman River in Upper Lancaster and hosts the annual Turkey Shoot Regatta Sailboat Race to benefit Hospice organizations. Ongoing activities include a variety of boating events, educational seminars, weekly dinners and monthly theme parties.

Prospective members are invited to visit www.YPYC.us.
