International author and artist to visit RH/HT

Marina T. Oberlander and her grandson, Konstantin F. Weber-Chubays, will make a guest appearance at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern.

Ukrainian-Russian author Marina T. Oberlander and her artist grandson, Konstantin F. Weber-Chubays, on July 14 will visit the Heritage Arts Center Gift Shoppe at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern (RH/HT), 73 Monument Place, Heathsville.

A poet, writer and translator, Oberlander has published a recent book of stories and novellas, That Strange Feeling of Freedom. The title references the ease from which her writing has evolved since her move from Russia to the U.S. in 2000.

“Her stories have the rare ability to intertwine magic with reality,” said Corinne Becker, director at Rice’s Hotel Hughlett’s Tavern. “Some stories even transport the reader into an alternate reality, like into the curious mind…..
