Irvington commission tables two applications for STR status

IRVINGTON—Short-term rentals (STR) remain a contentious topic in Irvington as the planning commission on Tuesday, September 5, carefully tabled two related applications.

The commission first discussed a conditional use permit (CUP) application submitted by Heather Bristol to operate an STR at 52 York Road.

According to zoning administrator Justin Nelson, two complaints were submitted regarding the application on the basis of too many STRs saturating the town.

Within her application, Bristol indicated upon being granted an STR, she would move into a garage apartment and the main building would be used as the rental for guests.

Commission member Albert Pollard Jr. questioned the legality of living in an accessory structure. According to the town code, living in accessory structures is prohibited, he said….
