
Lancaster High School golfers kept their composure under pressure Wednesday, September 27, to win the Northern Neck District tournament championship at the Hobbs Hole Golf Course in Tappahannock.
The Red Devils were “down by about eight strokes” after the front nine, according to LHS coach Rob Pittman, but came back to edge runner-up Northumberland by five strokes for the trophy. Lancaster had a team score of 327 and the Indians 333. Rappahannock placed third with 388 and Essex fourth, 425.
“They showed a lot of resiliency and they continued to play their game even when we were down,” said Pittman.
Tyler Brent, playing in the number four spot, shot the team low of 80. Colin Payne shot an 81, Creston Saunders, 82, and Leyton Dew and Pierson Long tied at 84. Alex Posey shot a 93.
Northumberland’s Tre Booth shot a two-over par 73 as the individual medalist and district golfer of the year. His teammate Amanti Starks was the tournament runner-up with….
