The Bethel-Emmanuel United Methodist Men will conduct the 35th Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. May 27 indoors at Bethel UMC, 142 Old Bethel Road, Lively.
A wreath will be placed to commemorate deceased veterans of the U.S. Armed forces and the names of veterans buried in Bethel cemetery will be read, reported retired Capt. Robert V. Smart.
The speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. John L. Arsenault, who served in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. He also is the author of LZ Sitting Duck: The Fight for FSB Argonne.
“This ceremony honors the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served to safeguard our country,” said Capt. Smart. “Please take an hour to remember and honor those who gave so much to protect our freedom.”
