Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office supports Garfield’s Rescue

HEATHSVILLE—Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp recently presented a donation to Garfield’s Rescue Inc. (GRI) vice president Karen Peterson in support of GRI’s humane homeless feline rescue, spay/neuter/vaccinate, foster to adopt program.

Funds for the donations are generated by the Sheriff’s Office deputy contributions into a donation pot each two-month period, from November 1- March 31, with March a “free” month, said Peterson. In exchange, the officers are allowed to grow a neat, well-trimmed beard for that time period.

The two entities recognize that community safety and good quality of life for pets are guiding principles in reducing euthanasia rates in shelters….
