Northumberland intends to keep students fed and connected with CARES funding

LOTTSBURG—In an effort to provide equitable education to its students without access to regular meals or reliable internet connectivity, Northumberland schools are requesting that its funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act be used to deploy technology, continue its Meals with Wheels program and sanitize its buildings.

School board members on Monday, June 8, reviewed the district’s related grant proposal to the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). In total, the district is entitled to $406,917.83 in federal funding through the CARES Act.
