Northumberland studies options for trimming 2022-23 budget

HEATHSVILLE—In the latest of an ongoing series of budget work sessions, Northumberland County administrator Luttrell Tadlock on Tuesday, June 7, walked the board through suggested options for trimming the proposed fiscal year 2022-23 budget.

The board held a public hearing on the proposed $45.8 million budget and tax rates on June 2. Currently, expenses of $39.4 million exceed the forecasted revenue of $37.3 million, which is based on the current real estate tax rate of $0.61 per $100 of assessed value.
