Northumberland supervisors approve marina expansion, 5-0, address other land use concerns

HEATHSVILLE—Following a lengthy public hearing on Thursday, February 10, the Northumberland board of supervisors unanimously, 5-0, approved a request from Afterworks LLC and William Washington to expand the Lewisetta Marina.

District 1 supervisor James Brann, District 2 supervisor Richard Haynie, District 3 supervisor James Long, District 4 supervisor Thomas Tomlin and District 1 supervisor Ronald Jett all voted in favor.

Among the proposed changes, Washington plans to add a 96-foot extension to an existing pier, parallel to an existing wooden breakwater, creating 11 boat slips. Plans also call for a new 192-foot pier with 16 slips near the existing travel lift and floating dock, all on Kingscote Creek.
