Northumberland’s proposed $42.9 million budget draws minimal comment

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland board of supervisors on Thursday, May 9, held its first public hearing on the county’s proposed $42,952,124 budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year, beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2020.

The proposed budget is based on an anticipated operating revenue of $21,316,692 from local taxes and fees, $3,136,739 from other local sources, $11,298,693 from state funding, and $7,200,000 in undesignated general funds.

Estimated expenditures for the 2019-20 fiscal year total $42,952,124, including government administration, $1,951,643; judicial administration, $934,022; public safety, $5,096,382; public works, $1,712,538; health and welfare, $2,631,661; education, $19,464,704; parks, recreation and culture, $207,600; community development, $1,124,738; non-departmental expenditures, $2,647,753; and undesignated general funds, $7,181,083.
