Planning commission recommends supervisors rezone Irvington road parcel, tables a waterfront decision

LANCASTER—The Lancaster planning commission on Thursday, July 15, held two public hearings regarding zoning change requests, voting to recommend one, and tabling another to give commission members time to visit the property.

In presenting the request by Malcolm Ransone to change a residential property to commercial, director of planning and land use Brian Barnes said, “We’ve yet to hear any feedback at all from the neighbors.” Barnes also pointed out that “a few years ago, the commission recommended a rezoning similar to this a couple of doors up. There’s a smattering of rezoning that’s happening on this corridor. I wouldn’t call that spot zoning, but being that that’s a main heavily traveled corridor, there is some precedent for rezoning there.”
