The Northern Neck Sail & Power Squadron will offer a nine-session sailing class beginning at 6:30 p.m. February 6 at the Chesapeake Commons Classroom, 453C North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Learn about basic sailboat designs and nomenclature, rigging and safety from experienced sailors, said public relations coordinator Keith Kidd. Then tackle the physical aspects of sailing forces, techniques, sail applications, marlinespike seamanship, helmsmanship and handling of difficult sailing conditions.
This course will benefit non-sailors as well as novice and experienced sailors and powerboaters, said Kidd.
