Garden club fundraiser
The Chesapeake Bay Garden Club will hold a fundraiser from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May, 18 at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville.

There will be floral displays, a silent auction, a garden sale, a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will benefit a scholarship for local students.

On Stage
The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts 2023-24 season will continue Saturday, May 18, with Sam Reider & The Human Hands. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

Preakness Party
The Rappahannock Community College (RCC) Educational Foundation recently announced the Preakness Party, celebrating the running of the Preakness Stakes, will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Shandy Hall on the Rappahannock River near Warsaw.

The Preakness Party will feature cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live and silent auctions and a best hat and most dapper contest. The all-inclusive tickets are $100 per guest. For tickets, call 333-6707 or visit www.rappahannock.edu/preaknessparty.

Garden party
The Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society will hold its Garden Party fundraiser from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Millmont, 987 Mill Wharf Road, Wake. There will be wine and food pairings, music, a floral design showcase and tours of the home from 3-4 p.m.

Potluck dinner
Bluff Point Community League, 2595 Bluff Point Road, Kilmarnock, will hold a potluck dinner Monday, May 20. Social time will begin at 6 p.m.; dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Bring a dish to share.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp is the after-dinner speaker. He will talk about law enforcement, safety and deterring crime.

Veterans’ breakfast
Commonwealth Senior Living, 460 South Main Street, Kilmarnock will serve a Veterans’ Breakfast from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on third Tuesdays, beginning May 21. Call 695-7290 to register.

Soul Expressions
Music on the Half Shell on May 24 will present Soul Expressions at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Pig pickin’
The Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department on June 1 will present 2024 Pig Pickin’ on the Point at Buzzards Point Marina, 468 Buzzard Point Road, Reedville.

Tickets are $50 for adults, $20 for ages 8-12, free for those younger than 8. Gates will open at 1 p.m. Extreme boat docking competition will begin at 2 p.m. Fred Paul’s barbecue will be served from 4-6:30 p.m. En’Novation will play from 5:30-9:30 p.m. For tickets, call 453-4100 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
