BROWNS STORE—At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Friday, December 15, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a double fatality.
A 2014 Ford Mustang ran off the road and struck a tree in the area of the 100 block of Light Street in Northumberland County, reported VSP Division One public information officer Jessica Shehan. The vehicle then caught fire. The driver and only passenger succumbed to injury at the scene.
Troopers are working to positively identify and notify the next of kin of the victims.
This crash remains under investigation.
