Work session explores three proposed water access sites

LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors convened a work session on Thursday, June 29, to discuss preliminary plans for three proposed water access sites.

Representatives from Guernsey Tingle and Bay Design Group presented initial sketches of the sites at Carter Cove, Windmill Point and Taylor Creek Park, for the board’s consideration.

Kristin Baum of Guernsey Tingle presented a “wish list” for Carter Cove, which included two boat ramps, expanded parking and refurbishment of the septic drain field. Baum suggested a dog park could be a possible reimagining of the septic field.

The primary concern, according to Baum, is restoration of an existing oyster house in disrepair. The architects and board members agreed that the oyster house should be restored with an eye to history.
