County approves $83,761 in spending

HEATHSVILLE—In a brief special called meeting prior to a closed session for employment interviews, the Northumberland County Board of Supervisors on October 19 approved expenditures for the sheriff’s office and sanitary district.

The board first approved a proposal from Carolina Recording Systems for $42,401.27 for the sheriff’s office. An annual maintenance fee of $10,030 will start in the next fiscal year.

County administrator Luttrell Tadlock said the new system would “be compatible with the next generation 911.” The board voted 5-0 with Ronald Jett, Richard Haynie, Thomas Tomlin, James Brann and James Long all approving the measure.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds or American Rescue Plan Act funds would be used “depending on timing,” said Tadlock. CARES Act funds must be spent….
