‘First’ Rappahannock River Wildlife Refuge Friend recognized at ceremony

Bill Swift, the Rappahannock River Wildlife Refuge Friends “First Volunteer,” recently was recognized. The event took place at the Hutchinson Tract near Tappahannock with many relatives, friends and associates through his refuge work.

Clearly he had made a big impression on those who knew him, reported Kathryn Murray.

A bronze plaque placed on a marker was unveiled and his wife was shown the tribute to Swift’s long-standing and extraordinary contributions to the Friends group.

Beyond the nuts and bolts of knowing his way around construction and design and being willing to spend hours doing hard physical labor, Swift contributed in a way that….
