Lancaster County Voter Office is officially closed to the public

Registrar encourages absentee voting by mail for next elections

Lancaster County general registrar and director of elections Susan P. Jett recently updated a public notice encouraging citizens to use absentee voting by mail.

“The health and wellbeing of our dedicated staff, as well as our voters are our number one priority,” said Jett.  “In an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and protect the health and safety of our voters and staff, the Lancaster County Voter Registration Offices are officially closed to the public as of noon today.  We are encouraging the use of absentee voting by mail, using the absentee code illness/2A/COVID-19 as the reason if you wish to vote in the upcoming May 5 town elections.

“Please be advised the deadline to request a ballot by mail for the May town election(s) is April 28.”

Voters can request an absentee ballot online at www.elections.virginia.gov or www.lancova.com. Voters also may email or call to request the application for a mailed ballot. The office phone number is 462-5277. The email is vote@lancova.com.

“Please also note that we are currently focusing absentee requests on the May  5, town elections for Irvington, Kilmarnock and White Stone. There will also be a Dual Primary on June 9. You may request an absentee ballot for this election, as well, at this time using the same 2A code and reason.”
