LANCASTER—In its first meeting of 2024, the Lancaster school board on Monday, January 8, recommended a capital improvement plan for the 2025-2030 fiscal years. The plan will go to the planning commission to be considered with other county capital projects and then to the board of supervisors for approval.
Superintendent Jessica Davis presented the $71,644,500 plan, which the school board unanimously recommended in a 5-0 vote. Faith Kemp, Kenya Moody, Cindy Clarke, Joan Gravatt and Margaret Socey all voted in favor. This is up from the previous year’s request of $53,434,000. The bulk of the plan, roughly $70 million, is earmarked for the new junior/senior high school and would come in fiscal years 2025-2026.
The remaining requests are for regular replacement of buses within the fleet at $135,500 each and $62,500 in matching funds for school security grants….
