Coffee with a cop set for May 23
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock. Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against six individuals.
A Deltaville man, 34, was charged May 7 with two counts of petit larceny.
A Colonial Beach woman, 46, was charged May 9 with appearing in public in an intoxicated condition, and disorderly conduct.
A Colonial Beach man, 48, was charged May 9 with assault and battery.
An Urbanna man, 31, was charged May 10 with obstructing justice, resisting arrest, and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
A Lancaster woman, 25, was charged May 10 with driving a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended or revoked.
An Ahoski, N.C., man, 30, was charged May 12 with failure to appear in court.

May 6: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Laurel Point Drive for legal advice, to James B. Jones Memorial Highway and Irvington Road for a reckless driver, and to the 500 block of Boys Camp Road for a suspicious person.
May 7: Staff responded to the 500 block of North Main Street for an adult welfare check, to the 10 block of Brent Court for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Lancaster Drive for a downed tree, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an individual struck by a motor vehicle, to the 1200 block of Eagles Trace for legal advice, to the 200 block of Cherry Point Drive for a reckless driver, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a disabled vehicle.
May 8: Staff responded to the 400 block of Brightwaters Drive for trespassing, to the 300 block of Dawson Lane for destruction of property, to the 200 block of Broadway for suspicious activity, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for downed power lines, and to the 100 block of First Street for gunshots in the late evening hours.
May 9: Staff responded to the 80 block of Clover Lane for a juvenile complaint, to the 2000 block of Ocran Road for destruction of property, to the 18000 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing, to the 200 block of Bald Eagle Road for destruction of property, to the 10000 block of Courthouse Road for an adult welfare check, to the 1300 block of Irvington Road for a fight in progress, and to the 100 block of First Street for a noise complaint.
May 10: Staff responded to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a juvenile complaint, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for loitering, and to the 100 block of School Street for an assault.
May 11: Staff responded to the 800 block of Blueberry Point Road for gunshots in the early morning hours, to the 200 block of Ocran Road for vandalism of private property, and to the 1700 block of Taylors Creek Road for downed trees in the roadway.
May 12: Staff responded to the 19000 block of Mary Ball Road for a wanted person, to the 800 block of Lumberlost Road for a domestic assault, to the 1900 block of Beanes Road for damage to a mailbox, to White Chapel Road for suspicious activity, and to Mary Ball and Merry Point roads for gunshots in the evening hours.
Staff also conducted five traffic stops, issued two summonses, assisted two motorists, investigated four building alarms and received 10 E911 hang up calls.
Fire calls
White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate fire/smoke alarms on Windfall Lane and Landing Drive, a utility pole fire on James Lane, and with Kilmarnock VFD to a generator fire on Oyster House Road.
Kilmarnock VFD also responded with Upper Lancaster VFD to a residential fire on Lumberlost Road, and to a transformer fire on Taylors Creek Road.
Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against four individuals.
Felonies
Sandy Lynn Newman, 29, of Callao was charged May 9 with ignoring law enforcement command, endangering the public, reckless driving, obstruction of justice, reckless driving (no signal or stopping at a stop sign) and illegal dumping.
Matthew Scott Ramsey, 39, of Hanover County was charged May 9 on a felony failure to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for a preliminary hearing on a felony offense. He was charged by the Hanover County Sheriff’s office.
Misdemeanors
A Heathsville man, 33, was charged May 7 with assault and battery.
A Farnham man, 42, was charged May 10 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court to show cause why his suspended sentence should not be revoked on the original charge of failing to perform on a promise of a construction violation.
